SagarisRA2 Showcase
« on: November 17, 2017, 09:07:40 AM »
This is my first forum post at GTM. I got inspired by the many forums on this site and after years of playing and modding the game I thought I would start trying to build and showcase robots. I'm not brilliant at this whatsoever so feedback would be great.

My first robot I made just last night is called Consequence. He is a "flicker" and shaped similiar to robots like Storm 2. It uses IRL aluminium armour around most of the robot. The weight is just under 700kg so I can improve the armour to titanium. I use small motors I have used for a while, and the flipper motor is part of the Robot Wars RA2 Mod. I have taken screenshots of the bot as well as the internals.

Also one thing I really want to do more than anything is enter a tournament, but have no idea how they work, how to apply or if there are even any available. Replies would be great, I think I need it XD

Welcome to GTM Sagaris, Im no expert as RWRA2 so I cant comment on the internal components but I'll give some advice about the design. 1. I noticed it's double layered. With the assumption both layers are Alu I would recommend have Ti panels overlayed with Polycarb. 2. The front of the robot is rather messy and you might be able to add them front armour plates to hinges if RWRA2 has them it'll make the wedge more effective. Overall it's a good design, it just needs cleaning up. Also I recommend you wanna try and build as close to the weight limit as you can.

As for tournaments. DSL 2.2 is the most popular for them so I would recommend trying that out at your own pace and starting a showcase there. You'd get a great amount of feedback there.

Thanks for the feedback, I will make them edits now. Also would you reckon I start a separate post for the DSL 2.2 stuff or use this post and rename it?

I spend more time on this version of the game than I do DSL, so I might as well post some designs here. I made this one a good month ago, and has Steel Hypno Teeth for the Jaw Teeth, and a "self-righting spine". It isn't good in the arena, but it looks nice.

this is a really big bot, driven by those tiny wheels... it'd look better with bigger wheels or a smaller chassis.

It's funny you think that, compared to most of the heavyweights it's rather small, I filled the chassis with some ballasts just to up the weight of it. But I definitely want to make a Red Dragon III, as this one was more just testing out jaw weapons.

Here are two, modernized, blue flippers in one post. We have Kronic 3 and Lightning v2, both very nice looking robots in my opinion, especially happy with how I used extenders to create the bolt on Lightning's flipper. May see these in a potential series coming. I posted Kronic in the Pay Tribute with Replicas but as it was on the same version of the game might as well put him here too.

New update, for those in search of a nostalgia trip, Spanners for Extreme Destrctution on Xbox and PC :P

I want to showcase a robot a day showing off new components, and this one I really tried to make something different based on my DSL thwackbot, finally have a round robot in my game.

Sagaris' Custom Bot and Skins Showcase
« Reply #9 on: March 03, 2019, 03:20:13 PM »
Ok...starting a new showcase as my old showcase is really messy and all the new stuff I post on here will hopefully look more professional as I now know most ways to make custom robots, all bar making new components from scratch.

TriHunter gave me an ARC robot to recreate in RA2 and I did just that. I OBJ'ed the chassis, BFE'd the components and skinned it in photoshop as I do with most my builds atm. The saw is a skinned Chewblade, the power is a single modded batterypack and the motor is a fast flatmotor, everything else are standard DSL components.
