Title: Badnik96's Custom Components
Post by: Badnik96 on December 03, 2009, 04:09:34 PM
Hey Guys, this is a thread for all of my custom parts. I do not have any working parts At the moment, but expect some soon! If you have a request for a component, post it here, and I will get around to making it.
I can now also reskin anything but wheels.

IMO, custom components can be either changed text files or gmf files. They are outside of stock, and DSL is defined as it's own component class.

QFT ^

Doom just get Lu-Tze's component pack, she made a heap of medieval stuff (I think Darkrat did too)

there's a sword in Darkpack 1.1 and in Slider's pack (cant remember which) And if you build a really good LW, you can win Click's in BBEANS6.

EDIT: There's also one in the ][Cer pack.

To make your own new (weapon) component:
1. Copy both the component folder and its txt.
2. Rename both as desired.
3. Open the component folder and rename the gmf, and its preview.bmp.
4. Open the txt and rectify the info in it to the gmf and preview in the component folder that you just renamed(#3 above):
....name = My Killer Weapon  (Component name as it will appear in-game.)
....dir = KillerWeapon  (Component folder name)
....preview = KillerWeapon.bmp
....model = KillerWeapon.gmf
....type = weapons (In-game component category)
....base = Weapon  (Tells exe the 'kind' of component this is.)
The rest (damage, sound,...) to tweak in the txt you can learn from BB's site. I chose weapon here for you.

4. Place both (Component folder and its txt) back into the general 'Components' folder.  Start up game and look for this component under its designated category.
--------

Once you have it working 'in-game' then,
5. Mod the gmf to be whatever you want it to be...... Go in-game, or better yet use Serge's gmf viewer, to check out your work.

(Note: the exe for whatever reason, doesn't always look in specific folders for skins, so while tweaking your gmf vertices, you may want to rename the skin.bmp names, and then their names in the top skin "*MATERIAL_LIST" section of the gmf.)

Yeah, I got that. but I'm trying to edit a burst motor's .txt file and whenever I test it, I press the "fire" command ONCE and it breaks. Also after that, I cant fire the weapon.

DP

Fixed previous problem. What line in the .TXT file do you have to edit so the burst motor goes forward faster?

EDIT: also, where's the .txt for The Judge's axe? I cant find it.

search > Files or Folders > More Advanced Options > Search by a word or phase inside the file

type in component names and it will locate the .txt files for you  ;)

nope, not uber powerful, just reskins with a few TXT tweeks. However, I have an uber axe head and uber ETEK weapon motor.

EDIT: for the Alpha burst and Frostbite plow, you need to edit the txt so they say "hidden=0" instead of "hidden=1". I will post a fix for this shortly.

EDIT AGAIN! fixed parts txt link(still need to download parts)https://gametechmods.com/uploads/files/badnikcomponentsfix.zip (https://gametechmods.com/uploads/files/badnikcomponentsfix.zip)

If you are willing to learn to modify components, you could add big teeth to throw bots around.

And larger.
Title: Re: Badnik96's Custom Components
Post by: JoeBlo on January 24, 2010, 12:59:38 AM
you wouldnt think they would have to be all that larger ?

one thing I am thinking about is they are a complex shape so could be a headache to increase the size right

isnt there a component that distorts the size of things ?

Mouser Mecha Catbot tail.

Did you used one of DarkRat's scythe-blades for this ?

Makes me think of getting some of his weapons in NAR AI as well because they are damn cool looking... but balanced, and i need DR's permission as well.
