Title: My very own house robot
Post by: SkullKid2000 on September 25, 2018, 07:28:05 AM
... His working name is "Jaws", and no it's not Bruce from the blockbuster Jaws from 1975 ;) This is one will be the BIGGEST, heaviest and most powerful house robot yet ever built. With imagination as my only obstacle, I will make sure that this robot won't fear anything, and have no weaknesses whatsoever, except speed.

I am well aware of that I have started on the new Matilda from the reboot. This titan on the other hand, will be the most awesome house robot of all time.

His current dimensions are the following (from inside Blender) approximately 2.4 meters long (from front to back), 2.6 meters wide (from side to side) and finally stand at 1.7 meters tall. He will weigh more than a ton. That's for sure. Probably between five to ten tons.

His armour will be superior to anything. Extremely thick Hardox. His primary weapon will be, hence his name, a hugely powerful set of crushing, piercing and chomping jaws (possibly on an arm, like Sir Killalot or Mr. Psycho or the late Major Damage, or even Goliath. But this one will be more than twice as powerful as the strongest jaws in robotic combat). The secondary weapon will probably be a huge circular saw, specifically designed to cut through anything.

Slow progress... I'm currently sketching it in Blender to see what I can come up with. My imagination is kind of poor at the moment... but I will make this by myself. I may take inspiration from existing house robots, not sure... I may also have exaggerated with the weight of it (five to ten tonnes) which I might squeeze down to a maximum of two tonnes (metric tons, in other words 2000 kilograms).

So, here's the sketch. A very early and not so detailed one but that's not what I'm after at the moment. I'm looking for a base shape for the chassis and tracks. I'm also looking for a way to make the grease pencil "sketch" a bit more in Blender as now I think the grease pencil is a bit too thick and solid. I would want it a bit more smooth and thin.

Lastly, if anybody here knows Blender and knows how I can make sketching a bit more painless, then please don't hesitate to reply!

Is this IRL or RA2? Because if it's IRL this will cost quite a bit

I thought about maybe 3D printing in scale with the pullbacks that already exists, but I'm once again not sure about that either… it probably won't be for Robot Arena 2: Design & Destroy, maybe Robot Rumble 2.0. If the developer of that game is interested.

A render of the back of my currently unnamed house robot... it's workname currently is "Titan".

Early stages… the human model is not by me, it can be found here and is made by a guy called "randomdude90", and his model is called "Wood Dummy". I did however scale the human dummy myself so that it is about 181 centimeters tall (5.93 feet).

"Titan" to the left is about 2 meters (6.56 feet) tall, 2 meters wide (6.56 feet) and 2.5 (8.20 feet) meters long.

The robot itself is of course by me. The human is there just as a reference for size comparison.

Cool! Looks a bit like Cassius Chrome.

I haven't been thinking about that until you said it, well spotted! :claping

I think I drew some inspiration from Sir Killalot, but yeah, with those arms he indeed looks a bit like Cassius Chrome.

Once again, a human reference correctly scaled to 1.76 (5.8 feet) meters while Crushowrecks is 2 meters (6.6 feet).

The human model is available for free at TurboSquid (https://www.turbosquid.com/FullPreview/Index.cfm/ID/1049654) and is not made by me.

Crushowrecks and Sir Killalot. Yes, I did take some inspiration from Sir Killalot, but I would call Crushowrecks a mix between Sir Killalot and Mr Psycho, and perhaps a little from Major Damage.

His head and face is done. I might do some more modeling on it, but I'm extremely happy with the result so far.
Title: Crushowrecks claw (update)
Post by: SkullKid2000 on September 15, 2019, 03:15:16 AM
An update on Crushowrecks claw… now slightly wider with more organic teeth, pointing in all kinds of directions, and with this amount of hydraulics… ouch...

Another small "update" on him (not really in the way of modeling, but more of word-based update)... I am patiently waiting for a way to get him into Robot Rumble 2.0. I admit I have made a version of "Crushowrecks" in Robot Rumble 2.0, but that was a, in my opinion, major failure... as I am not used to that kind of builder.

Blender on the other hand (now in version 2.81a) is proving to be a strong workhouse for visualising anything I got in mind.

New Year, New Decade, New UPDATE! Crushowrecks is now sporting a third weapon! A 45 cm saw blade, capable of slicing through anything! Tucked in right beneath his sadistic grin

EDIT: Also, at his front, an arrow-shaped plough, to guide competitors up right into the saw blade and spikes!

As I've been modeling on the new house robots for the reboot, I haven't had the time to make any further progress on Crush-O-Wrecks, until now.

As an additional set of protection. He's now got 50 millimeter thick armour plates, capable of deflecting any spinner at any speed.

Quite possibly yes  Except Crush-O-Wrecks doesn't look angry, but has a rather sadistic grin instead.

EDIT: I took inspiration from Sir Killalot and Mr. Psycho. Also to some degree, Major Damage and Goliath.

Undercutters? No problem. The side armour plates covers the tracks from bottom all the way up. Plus the tracks themselves are made of a classified hardened, stainless metal. Still 50 millimeters thick. Enough to deflect anything.

And so... this would be a battle I guess many would like to see. NOTE: Tombstone can be found and downloaded over at Sketchfab. The creator is TzHaar-Ket. The arena is of course, as previously mentioned, made by the awesome daleksec7! The rest is made by me (Crush-O-Wrecks and Carbide).
