When I made Starcore v3 I had a size limit on the how much space I could use to host files and by using WinRar could just barely make it fit. That and back then many members were using modems so shrinking it as much as possible was critical and WinRar of the time offered better compression than WinZip.


You can get WinRar trial here: http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm


Or you can as I recall use the free option of 7Zip from http://www.7-zip.org/ to extract .rar files.
