It's time for the fourth annual Botober event! As always, the challenge is simple: try to build a bot every day for the whole of October, using the prompts listed below, and post them here or in the RA2 Central Discord for others to enjoy!

Time to try this again.

Hey at least I already made Day 1 already.

Crystalized - based on Camellia's album of the same name

Day 1: Onyx Steel

Wait, what do you mean it's the 2nd? What do you mean 'onyx isn't technically a crystal?' Shut up and take my CW undercutter!

Forgot to post my Day 1 bot here, whoops

Day 2's bot will come in a few hours' time.

And indeed, here it is:

It's completely impractical for actual combat, but it's nice to look at. It also didn't take me very long to build, which is always a bonus. Leaves me free to spend the rest of the evening doing other things.

Day 2: Blazing Blazer

So I wasn't planning to adhere to the original prompt of 'Suit,' but than I came up with a really dumb name and took the opportunity to experiment with 30cm extenders to make weight-efficient wheelguards. Overall happy with this for what it is, though I should probably start making some more interesting bots in future haha

Day 2: Suit
Leangle - MW axe. Not entirely proud of this one but I feel like I can execute it better.
Also, if you're wondering why I chose this, well, "Suit of clubs"

Day 3: Wolfpack

To counter the hordes of sailboats on this day, I built a multibot inspired by the Hecht Wolfpack, a squadron of WW2 U-boats. Is it good? I don't know. Is it hell for anyone who hosts it? Most definitely.

 Day 3: Vessel

Here's what used to be a boat, thankfully it has now found a new purpose, being used as a prop for a local popstar band.

Had difficulty coming up with something for Day 3. This is what I managed to get done: it's a racing cataraman that's turned evil and started running people over.

[ This attachment cannot be displayed inline in 'Print Page' view ]

At some point I'm going to build something that's actually practical for tournament play, but today is not that day.

oh no I'm back on my bullsh**

[ This attachment cannot be displayed inline in 'Print Page' view ]

On the plus side, this will probably end up being one of my main 2.5 bots. Just needs a little tidying-up (and for me to ascertain whether its 72V Perm 132 is indeed overkill) and it should be ready to go.

While not an effective bot in general, It's really fun seeing it zigzag across the arena like it has a prototype version of the meltybrain

Day 4: Vessel
Bang Bang Simulations - HW Tantrum clone. Ngl, disappointed for the most part, but I plan on revisiting this, cause the idea is great IMO, and even this version isn't completely rubbish.

Struggled to come up with something for the Day 5 theme, and eventually went for Raven from Teen Titans. It's another wedge flamer, but I tried to do something a bit different with the reverse-wedge at the back.

I know I already built a flamethrower yesterday, but once you've built a robot designed to look like a bottle of alcohol, there's only one possible weapon you can give it...

Day 6: Revenant II

A couple days away and I'm back with an old MW I've brought back from the dead. Slight inspiration from jank-ass Robogames bots, but I think it's come out looking pretty decent! Also the 24v single mag packs a decent punch for MW, to my pleasant surprise

Been a while since I've posted here. I completed the first day but then fell behind but as of now I will try to keep on top of Botober.

For 'watch' I have made Time Keeper. Heavily Loki inspired with the name and colour scheme, it's a relatively simple shell spinner but does the job.

I thought an unique take on a shell spinner would be a good idea, bot is too unstable to be capable of deep tournament runs

I enjoyed using this robot to crush my opponents, slow bursts are a pretty cool new feature.

Quick LW just to ease myself back into this after missing the last few days because reasons.

[ This attachment cannot be displayed inline in 'Print Page' view ]

I'm continuing to experiment with chassis BFEing, and while you'll never get the same level of freedom and convenience as RR2 and RA3, I think there's definitely scope for me to build a viable HW with a chassis more complex than the editor should allow.

Uses an overkill motor to hit really hard, could also go full 180 to hit while being wedged by another opponent.

At this point I'm kinda pick-and-choosing, doing whichever days I think I can do whenever I get the chance to do them. Nothing wrong with that!

Anyway, the original Day 11 prompt was "Sour", so I decided it was time to say hello to an old friend...

[ This attachment cannot be displayed inline in 'Print Page' view ]

I already optimised it last year, and with the further changes in 2.4 and 2.5, I've been able to seriously bulk it up. In fact, between my optimisations and the motor weight reductions, the original version of Sour Note is now a CW! So I've got that in reserve in case any CW tournaments come up.

Lemon Core: Superheavyweight VS as I dubbed it "The Final Boss"
All Terrain Explorer: A hybrid that sometimes hit hard
The Serious Team: Also a Superheavyweight but it's a cluster
