I found out today that Purolator Oil and Air Filters is running a new ad campaign involving Combat Robots.
Here is the main site: http://www.purolatorautofilters.net/Pages/home.aspx (http://www.purolatorautofilters.net/Pages/home.aspx)
The commercials are under the "Metal Wars" link.
Here is the direct link as well: http://www.purolatorautofilters.net/promotions/video/Pages/videos.aspx (http://www.purolatorautofilters.net/promotions/video/Pages/videos.aspx)
There are only three "battles" and they all made me laugh.
I think it is pretty damn awesome that some company out there is combat robots in their marketing. Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy.
Perhaps we can get them to sponsor a tournament on GTM? I definitely am going to make a point to buy their products for my car.
-
As much a win as I've ever seen.
-
teh old
-
I want an egg carton convict replica now please

Haha! We will have to ask Sonny to make one when he gets back from his trip. :D
-
Box of Evil made me LOL
-
That was awesome
-
Sparkey posted these already but they're still win.
And I second the notion of an Egg Carton Convict replica :D
-
LOL
More replicas! :P
These are awesome.
-
TP Killa is badass.
-
Someone email them NAO!!!
Edit: Theres on Purolator channel on youtube and they have them too. They're only about a month old I think!
And I got all excited when I saw the video titled El Diablo... but it wasn't the one we know and love.
-
maybe they could use spinner from the west in their next video :gawe: .
-
I'll invite them here to GTM if you guys want me too.
-
That match with TP Killa has to be one of the funniset things I've ever seen. XD
-
You do realise thees guys are just the puralator companies channel? They might not care.................

Sorry Sparkey, I didn't realize that you had already posted these videos on the forum. I guess I missed that thread/post or something.
As for the channel vs company thing. Who cares? I think we should send them support messages anyways. Let's face it, robot combat went from hobby to Primetime back down to hobby pretty quickly. Just the fact that Purolator is putting their company image on something that isn't really popular says a lot. Somebody within that company, ad agency, or marketing dept has a love for combat robotics.
-
Well, I thought the commercials were cool, especially the one with the egg carton.
-

They must, if they went to all the work to build three functioning bots just for a couple of commercials.
I want to see the real bots fight each other. I predict Psychosis would win.
-
That VS was an actually BB competitor *goes to find pic*
-
If you read the "more info" part on the youtube videos, it says that Castration Station is "the meanest metal warrior"
-
Epic find JD!

Epic find JD!
I foun it first :p
-
Sorry. Didn't realize until after I posted.
-
I like how over the top he is when he says egg carton convict.
EHGG CEEARTUN CEEAUNVICT
-
Would replicas of these be allowed in RW2? They are real.

I wrote a love note to Purolator web questions/comments email address.

Hello there!
I was delighted to see the Purolator Metal Wars commercial on NASCAR.com yesterday. I think it is incredibly awesome that Purolator is associating its products with combat robotics. Fans of the sport/hobby have seen it go from the basics of backyard hobby to the glory of primetime television and back. It is heartwarming to see that a company such as yours would show it a bit of needed love.
I have posted links on our forum for others to view the commercials and become familiar with your products.

GameTechMods is a website dedicated to an old Combat Robotics game called Robot Arena 2. The game first came out in 2001, but there are still legions of faithful fans that play and mod the game to it's maximum potential. These same legions can easily become Purolator fans as well. I am hoping, with the exposure, that they will become loyal to your products and show their support in the future. (Sure, some of them are too young to drive... but still.)
All in all, I wanted to extend my gratitude for your advertisements. They made me laugh & support a hobby/sport that is close the hearts of many people. Keep up the great work! Forward this email to the entire company and extend the thanks from all of us at GameTechMods.
Oh, and they just built an Advance Auto Parts next door to my workplace last month. I now know where to go for Purolator parts in the future!
You are all awesome.
Many thanks,
-Jack Daniels & The guys and gals of GameTechMods.com

This is the part were sparkles cleans up his act.

-
Did I do it right?
fixed.
-
I doul really do some evil stuff like this..........
-
I think that someone (or Somebody ;) ) should make replicas of their bots and make their commercials in RA2, post them on the GTM account and email it to them.
-
Great idea Somebody! Anybody agrees?
(Can Someone tell me what this company is producing?)
-
Car parts
-
Would replicas of these be allowed in RW2? They are real.
Only the real bots. the cardborad bots cannot be made.
-
Car parts
Oil Purifier.
-
Haha, I think a.. beer company did a robot combat one here too. I forgot who, which means I can't find what.
EDIT: Advertisement for Bud Light.

O man, that is awesome
I demand a Minifridge Replica. O wait...
-
Well, it'll have to be called something else then! :P
-
Inflictor is actually Tripulta Raptor from Battlebots.
-

Only the real bots. the cardborad bots cannot be made.
They can be skinned and given something really weak for armor so that they crumple easily.
-
No, I mean you can't make reps of them for RW2.

They sent me an email....here it is
Hello,
I work for a marketing company in Los Angeles and came across a thread at https://gametechmods.com/forums/index.php/topic,4631.0.html (https://gametechmods.com/forums/index.php/topic,4631.0.html) relevant to our client, Purolator.
We are interested in trying to establish some type of sponsorship for a tournament (like the first poster indicated), or figuring out an alternative means to pass on a deal for those interested. My search for an admin revealed you, so if you're the appropriate person and are interested, hit me back with an email and we can discuss.
Thanks!
So if anybody is rich and wants to sponsor this let me know.
-
Wait so are they interested in sponsoring a tournament here on GTM? If we did, it could get a lot of publicity for the site, but we would probably have to clean up all the downloads (like free copies of RA2)
-
If the are looking for a real event to sponsor tell them to check out North East Robotics Club www.NERC.us (http://www.NERC.us)
They have a large event at the Franklin Institue on October 9 2010 and a event at Motorama the largest car show East of the Mississippi river comming up in Febuary 2011
-
And if they want a GTM Tournament to sponsor, I don't have a problem with them sponsoring Clash of the Titans.
-
They could sponsor BBEANS: from 6-whateverthelasttournamentnoubershouldbe!
-
Nahh BBEANS should stay like the Daytona 500. Sponsorless.
-
Well... they could sponsor BOTM? Or any other big tournaments?
-
Just think about an actual commercial on TV for GTM or tournament. If they do sponsor a tournament or there's a commercial, they should use that really cool B.B.E.A.N.S. montage. At the end of the add there could be a spokes person that says "Get Robot Arena 2 now or get more information at gametechmods.com."
-

Whoa! That is awesome. I don't get what you mean by the "if anyone is rich" part. We wont have to pay them. They want to sponsor a tournament. We could have some serious fun with this if they want. Perhaps a regular tournament with an Purolator skinned arena might be a good way to test the waters for starters without getting too over our heads. Just at thought.

Oh, didn't realize that.
Well then. Just email them back and tell them we are all too poor to build real robots. If they want to be on the next clash cubes to give us a call.
and forward them MikeNCR's address so that they can at least sponsor his bot (then he can take over the world). Maybe even Shishkabot as well... but I can't remember what the hell he changed his name to around here. :P
-
SKBT
Vertigo and Whammettnuht are viable, if UK based people too.
And don't forget zipdragon!

ACAMS did you forward this to them?
-
im ambitious to build a robot.. sponsor me :P
heck Im ambitious to start my own robot combat promotion, robots and sell tickets to live shows... want to make Metal Wars a real show in Australia? :P
-
I has teh interwebz back yaaaaay!
Anyways, I really doubt that Purolator wants to sponsor a tourney a RA2 tourney, as it does nothing for their product. If no one has already, a response should be sent that:
a) Thanks them for their interest in the great sport of robotic combat.
b) Clairifies that the Gametechmods community, while we are all fans of real combat robotics, is based around a computer game and very few members have the required time, money, resources and skills to build real-world robots.
c) Suggests that if they really intend to sponsor a tourney, point them in the right direction as to who to contact (perhaps the links that SKBT posted and/or MikeNCR).
d) *optional* Apologize that we were unable to provide a name as to who to contact for possible sponsorships, only point them in the right direction (modesty like this works well in small doses).
e) Mention at how thrilled their new fans in the GTMs community would be at the support of robotic combat events.
f) Thank them once again for their intrest in combat robotics, and consequent co-promotion of the sport with their products, and how appreciative we are.
Before anyone goes off to write something like this, do you guys think such a response is a good idea? And (for Jack, ACAMS or anyone who has been handling communication with Purolator) has a response similar in nature to this one already been sent?
I would write this, but I'm moving the next couple of days so time is sparse for the next little while. It would be best if Jack wrote it for consistency's sake. If you do JD, please PM me a copy before it gets sent off - I'd really like to edit/proofread/revise it a little.

We don't own RA2.

Permission from Atari? You mean Gabriel Interactive and Infogrames.

Atari owns RA2
DERP

Since when.

Sorry.
And I'm not retarded because I've been wrong once.

Infogrames was bought out by Atari some time ago.
