Title: Hi i'm new
Post by: Murloc on July 28, 2009, 12:41:32 PM
Hi guys, I've played for the first time RA2 some years ago, then downloaded various parts and saw some communities, I never played online though.

Today I found this forum which seems the last community where everyone converged, am I right? there isn't anything else?

I'd like to know the situation of the game as now and if there's any future for this kind of games (I mean new projects).

Welcome to GTM!

And yes, I believe we're the last left.
But we still make various mods, for example DSL 3.0 is in development, but it is obvious that there won't be any more official versions of the game.

Welcome to the GTM's forums. To answer a few of your questions, you would be correct in saying that this is the last place where everyone converged. The "official" forums had the plug pulled on them by Atari a couple of years ago, so everyone came here.

As for the situation of the game right now, it's pretty much abandonware, so there aren't any "official" projects planned. We do have a very faithful core group of modders though that have produced some pretty sweet things, like the DSL 2.1 mod especially. I actually recommend that you download this mod and stick it on another copy of RA2.

I hope this helps, and welcome once again :)

I suggest following the link below if you want Robot Arena 2, DSL-TC 2.1.

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=1LTTSSJ4

That will get you the full download. That way you don't have to mess with putting it all in the right place.

thanks, I think I will download DSL mod and try it then.

My design skill is really poor, therefore I'm not going to post any bot soon, they are all big rectangles with z-tek hp and the biggest wheels with some kind of weapon in the forward part and a ram plate in the back.

My suggestion would be to look around at some of the DSL showcases so you get an idea of what is good and not good. Welcome to the forum.

Your building should improve when you start using DSL. I know mine did. There are alot more component choices in DSL, which is always a plus.
