Title: Creepy picture thread.

De Loys' ape (http://z.about.com/d/paranormal/1/0/s/Q/1/de-loys-ape.jpg)
- Swiss geologist Dr. Francois De Loys supposedly shot this creature on an expedition to Venezuela in 1917-1920. It apparently stood 4 and a half feet tall, and attacked De Loys and his group along with a female. Even though that it has since been proven a hoax (just a spider monkey with some trick photography), it still makes my skin crawl.

Reports of this creature come from southern Florida. Standing 6-9 feet tall, it is covered in reddish-brown hair and gives off a foul smell, earning it the nickname "the Skunk Ape." The story of these photos is that an elderly woman took them in her back yard and delivered them to the local police station. There has been no explanation as to what is actually in the photos.

This is an interesting one. Supposedly, this is a photo of the Bray Road "werewolf" (Bray Road is in Wisconson), but it has also been tagged as the Parc de Sept Chutes Beast (La Parc de Sept Chutes is north of Quebec City, Canada). Whatever it is, it appears to be snarling at the photographer, and holding what looks like a deer.

Post by: Weirdo on June 26, 2009, 12:08:49 PM: Daddy Long-legs arn't spiders, they're insects. Wings, long bodies, six legs. There are too many legs to count in that picture, but those bodies are more round and I can't see any wings. So they're not Daddy Long Legs in the pic.

I think Naryar may be right about them bring 'hunting spiders', except in england I believe they're called 'harvestmen'. Not spiders, cos they don't have abdomens and don't spin web, but they have more than six legs.

Post by: Urjak on June 26, 2009, 12:48:55 PM: Ahhhh.... Wings is refering to Crane Flies, Naryar is refering to the Harvestman, or Opiliones as he mentioned. The spider kind of Daddy Long-legs are mainly a refference to various Cellar Spiders, particularly the Long Bodied Cellar Spider.

All in all.... don't use the word Daddy Long-Leg, it is far too ambiguous.
