RNP: The 2nd Chance - SBV and Awards
« on: August 24, 2016, 10:47:27 PM »

Since Roboticollins Network lost a point for its previous cancellation, it's only fitting for its 2nd chance tournament to be none other than... The 2nd Chance.

Splash:

Brackets:

Round 1: Each participant was given a random number. When that number was drawn, they were placed in the match.

Round 2: Each Chance bracket participate was given a random number. When that number was drawn, they were placed in the match.

Round 3: Each Chance bracket participate had the number corresponding of their match when they won (example: A vs B, A wins and is #1. C vs D, D wins and is #2, etc.). When that number was drawn, they were placed in the match.

Not liking my chances for round 1, but looking at Dine and Dash, it has no motor protection at all.

Hey zod, how on earth is the flamethrower on top of the hammer!?

Four different types of spinner (Vertical, Horizontal, Drum, Horizontal Bar) in bracket 4... Will be interesting.

My thoughts/predictions on the bots.

Big Time Hammer: Wasn't this obliberated in BattleBots recently?
Cheap Surgery 4: Only drum bot, could go far.
Chemical Warfare: Second best looking bot for me. Not sure how the DSL Bar alone will do without stuff like Beater Bars.
Dine and Dash: Unfortunatly can't see it going far, would love to see it as the plucky underdog.
Drop-Saw: I do like a bot that uses underused weapons, not seen many saws in events. Can't see it doing well in its heat though.
Goblin Shark: Like the look of it, but is underweaponed compared to most of the other bots. Wheels also look very exposed.
ICE-Force: Never seen a bot from Thyrus I didn't like. Great looking design, just unsure how well it will fare against some big hitters.
Judge Man: Umm... Will probally not do well.
Mass Accelerator: I admit i'm not too confident in my bot seeing some of the opponents. Hope it can deliver some big hits though.
Not Bushido: Lucky this in one of the two heats without big hitter I guess.
Polonium-210: The best looking bot by far, I love it. If it wasn't in heat four, it would probally do better.
Psychocandy: Great design, just not one that will win much in my eyes.
Rodune: Bye Bot, looks good but will be defeated easily but any spinner.
Salamandra: Exposed motor will be ripped off with a good enough hit. Neat design though, don't see many bots with things on their spinner frame.
Toriodore Ultimo: Toriodore is a prooven design, will probally do very well in its heat.
War Horse: Good looking bot. Has a nice target rich enviroment in heat 3.

Have fun everyone.

Polonium, Chemical Warfare, Drop Saw...
Can you please put a paperbag on my bot so no one can see that ugly thing anymore? :D These bots looks amazing. Good job guys
I like Big Time Hammer as well but in this case I would have like to see the flamethrower beeing bfe'd inside the hammer.

Bingo.

I like Big Time Hammer as well but in this case I would have like to see the flamethrower beeing bfe'd inside the hammer.
I considered doing that with Component Freedom but I thought it might be a bit too cheaty.

My personal opinions on each of the 'bots now:
Big Time Hammer: Like the aesthetic and the name-scheme after Blacksmith. It looks good and I think will do good.
Che4p Surgery: Rather unique-looking and has a neat weapon that I hope to see do well. The wheels look fragile, however, as does the sides.
Chemical Warfare: A neat looking 'bot with a cool skin and weapon. I am worried if the weapon can do much damage, however.
Dine And Dash: It just looks like a hasty rush-job to me. It won't do well, especially against axes that can cleave the motor clean off.
Drop-Saw: It's rather neat, if a bit off-coloured. It's unique to see a TDD-style robot and it could do well, though the dustpan looks too small.
Goblin Shark: A cool-looking robot, if a bit bleak. Still, the weapon can grab and annoy others, though a good spinner will destroy it.
ICE-Force: Personally, I think Thyrus' 'bot is the best-looking. It has a neat angled weapon and cool aesthetic armour style that will work. Hope it does well.
Judge Man: Errr...
Mass Accelerator: I like the rather ramshackle-style appearance and the weapon looks fierce, though it has exposed parts that can hurt it.
Not Bushido: Again, errr...
Polonium-210: I'm surprised that my replacement for C.R.4.P is considered one of the best-looking. Still, I think flippers could give it trouble, especially with the low-slung flywheel.
Psycho Candy: I don't think the weapon on the front will do that well, especially seeing that it has a rather small area to grab with. The armour is durable, though.
Rodune: I don't expect it to go far, being a byebot and all, but it is still a good robot nonetheless.
Salamandra: That weapon motor is going to hurt it, especially against axes and other weapons. If flipped, it might as well kiss the weapon goodbye. Still rather neat.
Toriodore Ultimo: It looks very lethal. My only worry is if the weapons flay off, in which case it'll be turned into an unstable wreck.
War Horse: This is one that I think will do very well. Its weapon and heavy armour is seriously going to help it here, but the treads do have a few weak areas.

I guess this isn't any Throwback Throwdown
i'm only a finalist in BBEAMS 7 which was a meme tournament and I just stole a NAR AI bot and made it dense as ****.
and Not Bushido was a thing that happened, I beat the #1 seed despite being #bad seed.

I think my noob is showing, here. :ermm:
Dine and dash always had problems with bots like mass accelerator. However, I only fear chemical warfare in its heat.
This still should be fun.  Good luck.  :popcorn
I have several opinions.

Judge Man: Umm... Will probally not do well.
Well Judge man was made for cool and fun looks, plus the weapon is based of his card where he used 2 maces.

Already with a grudge match? Geez, that didn't take long!

Of course, as is tradition, you'll be able to request grudge matches either with your machine and another robot(s), or if you feel a set of opponents need a grudge, request!

Also for the first time, you'll be able to request exhibition matches. Your opponents, are your choice!

What is Gobkin Sharjs lower jaw attached to?
Mass Accelerator works very good for the nightmare design. It was funny how it fit perfectly inside the gap ofCheap Surgey
