Yep, I finally feel confident to actually host this series again. I mean, it's not too far off when I usually host tournaments, but I got a little carried away with time between tournaments, so that certainly drained me. But anyway, enough of the sappy crap. I'm ready again to get this show on the road, and hopefully make this worthwhile.
GENERAL RULES:- DSL 2.2 IRL Edition V1.1 CW
- 64 Entrants
- One Bot per Entrant UNLESS Seeded (See Seeded Entrants for more details), but if signups are not filled up within 20 days from the initial opening of signups, then you are allowed to submit a second entrant.
- I'm willing to AI to the best of my ability if you are not able to, but don't complain what I AI'd your bot
- Unseeded entrants will not be reserved, and I cannot allow reserving spots or placeholder bots for any reason.
- While you can re-enter an exact bot that was entered in a previous Deathmatch, I would VERY MUCH APPRECIATE as many updated/newer bots in general.
- Any attempt to exploit a loophole will be rejected immediately.
- You can send your entrant to me through a personal message through GTM or Discord (ThatRedAceGuy#0948 is my tag if you want to add me and/or just send through there)
BUILDING RULES:- DSL 2.2 Bots Only
- Cruiserweight bots only (399.1 KG - 600.0 KG)
- Any and all special components from the latest release of DSL 2.2 IRL Edition are allowed
- The only custom components allowed are re-skins of an existing component in RA2. (You must send every file needed to make this work, so please keep this in mind.)
- Build and enter a design that YOU built yourself (Yes, I had to make this a rule as I got "placeholder" bots trying to abuse the update rule. I can understand why, but it makes the 'first come, first serve' thing very scummy)
- I can allow custom AI .py files if you need your entrant to do something specific that would otherwise not be possible with a normal .py file. However, if it that makes your bot overpowered or is pointless and/or just stupid memes, then the entrant along with the custom AI .py is banned.
- General 2020 Tournament IRL Ruleset applies here for most if not all of the rules here. I don't ask for too much, but just use
common sense for building bots.
- You must have a bot that must show controlled movement at all times
- Invincible Armor (i.e. using batteries to defend your bot) or excessive Stacking/Spamming components (i.e. Excessive extenders) will be banned
- Shufflers are allowed, and will gain a 200 KG weight bonus, but that 200 KG must be used for the mechanism itself. (Walkers/Hoppers also apply in this category, but don't give me anything that is impossible to AI, unless you can AI it yourself).
- Modular WEAPONRY for robots are allowed. However, most of the internal (and certain external) components of the main design MUST remain the same for the interchangeable weaponry/forms, and no more than THREE configurations.
- Multibots are allowed, but each bot must at least be 51:49 weight ratio between both bots (in other words, one can weigh at least 290 KG and the other can be at most 310 KG. Mini-bots won't be allowed for this reason).
- Flamethrower bots are allowed, but using that bot with EternalFlame.py or a similar AI python is NOT.
- Meltybrain AI is banned.
- Anything needing custom AI Pythons (.py's) are allowed, but anything that makes your bot blatantly overpowered or just a meme will be disallowed.
- Any and all Mods for DSL 2.2 that are currently NOT in the DSL 2.2 IRL Edition will be included (Check this area in the 'Downloads' section for details (https://gametechmods.com/forums/downloads/?cat=21)
- You can send your own component re-skins as long as you provide the necessary files to me when you enter and the ONLY change to said component(s) is the skin.
- BFE, AAM, OBJRA2 and Every Sergepatcher Component Freedom tool, except for the weight bonus one, will be allowed for IRL purposes
- Deliberately terrible bots or joke-bots will be rejected instantly. Please make something with effort for this. (Inappropriate names and skins also count)
- If I am feeling mixed opinions towards the legality of your entrant, then I will ask about certain details to make sure.
- You can send me as many updates as you need to. However, If an updated bot is illegal, then I will use the previous version you sent me.
Component Restrictions:For this category, this shows what components are allowed/disallowed, and also how many of each component you are allowed to use.
General Weapon limits:
- Use Basic Common Sense if Using/Mixing Weapons (ex: 4 Small Typhoons and 2 Larges is not allowed) This part is generally important for weapon limits, so just keep this in mind.
- Mechavore/Minion Discs are Banned (Both Sizes)
- Ant Blades are banned. Period.
- 100 KG Max Active Damaging (Non-Cosmetic) Weapons on a bot (Including DSL Bars)
Horizontal & Vertical Spinners
- 2 Large Teeth(15-24 KG) ex: Large Typhoons, Ripping Teeth, Large Nightmares, etc) OR 4 Small Teeth (7-14 KG) ex: Small Typhoons, Cutting teeth, Heavy DS teeth, etc OR 6 Small Beaters/Medium/Large
- This also applies to Hammer-Saw Bots
Wedgeless Drums Only
- 10 Small Beaters OR 8 Medium/Large Beaters
- Every other types of teeth are not allowed
- You must NOT have a wedge on these types of bots, otherwise they will be classified as a Drum Vertical Spinner
Axes/Hammers/Clamps
- While these types of bots struggle as is, don't get carried away with weapon spam
Burst limits:
- Front/Rear-Hinge: 1 Beta Burst/Motor or 2 VDMA R/P Bursts/VDMA Front-Hinged/Storm-Burst
- Top Hinge: Max of 1 Long Pneumatic, or 2 Short Pneumatics
Cheatbot2 Components:
- Up to TWO Flatmotors Max Allowed on Wedgeless PURE drums and Overhead Saws/Hammer-Saw style bots. For everything else, it's not allowed, even as drive motors.
- Overkill Motors are allowed
BATTLE RULES:- 3 Minute Length Matches
- The Robot Wars 2016 Arena (Re-skinned (https://i.imgur.com/6KS9Zcf.png)) will be used for this tournament
- 1-on-1 Style Battles in a Single-Elimination Style Bracket
- There will be weekly episodes with eight heats with eight bots each with a randomized draw for unseeded bots, and seeds will have a dedicated draw for each heat. The winners of the heats will advance to the Grand Finals.
- The Grand Final Bracket draw will work depending on the winner of the heats: A vs E, F vs B, C vs G, & H vs D
- There will be a Rumble for Quarterfinal losers competing for 8th-5th Place, and a Playoff for Semifinal losers competing for 3rd & 4th Place in the Grand Finals.
- For people who have entered more than one bot, I will make sure both of your bots do NOT compete in the same side of the bracket in the heats.
- For Multibots, both bots need to be beaten in some way to consider the whole unit defeated.
- I will keep ANY and ALL havoks out of a match this time. (Regardless of my sanity)
- If a crash occurs with a match that before 2 minutes, then the match will restart as many times as needed and the match will not be shown. If the 2-minute mark is passed, the match will be shown and go to a judge's decision.
- If a bot shows no controlled movement at all for about 20 seconds, then I will consider it immobile. There will be a visible timer for when it becomes noticeable and mostly shows zero sign of doing anything. It will be displayed as a 10-Second warning timer.
- Matches where bots are caught dancing, forcing a stalemate will ONLY stand at the last 45 seconds. If it occurs earlier, then the match will NOT be shown and be restarted.
- For the Pit Hazard, things will work a little bit differently. If multiple bots enter the pit at once, then the last one to enter the pit will be declared the winner. If one bot enters the pit, miraculously escapes, and another bot follows in the pit and stays, then the one who entered the pit zone first will be declared eliminated.
- If there is no clear winner at the end, then I will be judging every bot fairly on based on Aggression, Damage, and Control using a spectrum of 33 Points (11 Points for each category). I will show a brief replay of the action (if any), and show the winner. Once a video is posted, I will post my notes and details on why I made said decision inside a spoiler tag if needed.
Seeded Entrants:If you are listed as a seed, then you are allowed to enter an additional bot alongside the maximum bot limit:
1. NightRaven (SnowStorm)
2. Sickle Robotics (DJX: Despair Remix)
3. Geese (Sadlads)
4. IdiotBrickDoctor (Gold Ecstacy)
5. RedAce (Iguana 2)
6. Code Red (6 Wheels O' Fright)
7. Hoppin (Pulse 3)
8. TheRoboteer (Apogee II)
I list the previous builder's entrant as that bot was a Grand Finalist. You do not have to re-enter it if you do not want to, but you cannot re-enter said bot if it violates any of the new/current ruleset.
